Reach Truck Attachments - Reach Trucks are mechanized equipment used for loading and storage in certain businesses that maintain storage of cargo to finished merchandise on a pallet which are then placed into elevated shelving units. The basic reach truck utilizes an out rigging apparatus mounted to the front of the vehicle. A pair of telescoping forks that move up and down are mounted to the out rigging. This design delivers a more level balance of the load and allows easier maneuvering among the storage shelves and narrow aisles.

When loading pallets on the their specified shelves, the hydraulics can be applied to slide and swing the pallet into position. This device is diminutive enough to fit into an aisle less than 10 feet across without many difficulties so long as there is nothing protruding from any shelves.

There are several different models of reach truck on the market. The simplest unit is a stand up model that you are able to slide the forks beneath the pallet and then move it to a different location for storage, then slide it into place. Generally this style of reach truck is good for shelving units that are only one pallet deep. A double-reach truck works in the same basic way as the stand-up type however uses telescopic forks that are lengthy enough to slide a pallet into shelves that accommodate two pallets. Straddle reaches are another reach truck variation. This type of reach truck slides beneath the pallet and is additionally able to grab the sides as well. The straddle reach unit is advantageous when grasping the sides of the pallet and commodities will not result in breakage. They allow straightforward pallet retrieval of a pallet that may be 4th or 5th in line and are effective when the shelving units are accessible in more than one direction.
