Forklift Fuel System - The fuel systems job is to provide your engine with the diesel or gasoline it needs to be able to work. If whatever of the fuel system components breaks down, your engine would not function right. There are the main components of the fuel system listed below:
Fuel Tank: The fuel tank holds the fuel. The fuel from the gas station pump, moves from the tank travels downward the gas hose into your tank. Inside the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge the amount of gas is in the tank.
Fuel Pump: In newer cars, the majority contain fuel pumps usually located inside the fuel tank. Many of the older automobiles will attach the fuel pump to the engine or positioned on the frame next to the tank and engine. If the pump is inside the tank or on the frame rail, then it is electric and runs with electricity from your cars' battery, while fuel pumps that are mounted to the engine use the motion of the engine to be able to pump the fuel.
Fuel Filter: Clean fuel is very important for overall engine life and engine performance. Fuel injectors have small openings that can clog very easily. Filtering the fuel is the only way this could be avoided. Filters could be found either after or before the fuel pump and in some instances both places.
Fuel Injectors: The majority of domestic cars made after 1986, came from the factory with fuel injection. A computer control opens the fuel injectors so as to allow fuel into the engine, which replaced the carburator who's task originally was to carry out the mixing of the air and fuel. This has caused better fuel economy and lower emissions overall. The fuel injector is essentially a small electric valve which closes and opens with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or inside small particles, and can burn better when ignited by the spark plug.
Carburetors: Carburetor work in order to mix the air with the fuel without any computer intervention. These tools are quite simple to work but do require frequent tuning and rebuilding. This is amongst the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors in favor of fuel injection.
